Ravi Shastri (left), became India's head coach in July 2017.

Ravi Shastri, India's head coach, has been tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently isolating with three support staff members.

Shastri, aged 59, passed a positive lateral flow test Saturday night. Bowling coach Bharat Aru, Ramakrishnan Sridhar, and Nitin Patel, physiotherapist, will take precautionary measures to isolate him.

The remainder of India's team had poor results on Saturday and Sunday. They travelled to The Oval for the fourth Test against England.

Shastri and three of his closest contacts have been tested for PCR. They will stay in the hotel and not travel with India's medical team until cleared.

This is the first positive result since the five-Test series started on August 4. India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pan and Dayanand Garani, the training assistant, tested positive before the series.

England and India have been in different hotels, so their only contact has been on the playing field.

The series is at 1-1. India begin day four with a 171 run lead at The Oval.
