For the sake of argument, we will admit that feuds are an inherent part of the rap industry. They are as much about maintaining the marketing machine churning than actual interpersonal conflict or appreciation for the fine art of the diss track. You can't keep Andr 3000 from a feud that is as public and stupid as the one between Drake and Kanye West for years.

This is according to Rolling Stone. It reports that Drakefresh off the album Certified Lover Boy, which has West's bloated and messy Donda, decided to hop on Sirius XM this Saturday to leak one of the many songs West released during his endless (and often objectionable) listening parties leading up to the album release. Drake performed Life Of The Party. This song was only played at a private Las Vegas party and features Outkasts verse 3000, as well as a verse attacking Drake. He decided to upload it onto the internet.
The Drake-Kanye controversy dates back at least to 2018, when West released Pusha-Ts Daytona. Drake was accused of using ghostwriters for his songs. The release of Pusha–Ts The Story Of Adidon was the next step in the Drake-Kanye drama. This track is still one of the most vile and mean-spirited rap tracks in modern music, as well as a lot of snide rhymes. The bad blood, which is presumably informed by the fact that these two men are among the most prominent and bravado-heavy musicians in contemporary music, is still evidently alive and well. It also includes more diss tracks and, according to Rolling Stone, group texts. (Heaven forfend.
Andr 3000 has been dragged in, who was just trying to put a verse on the damn record. He now issues a statement calling the entire situation unfortunate.
Kanye reached me a few weeks back about being part of the Donda project. His idea of making a musical tribute for his mom inspired me. I felt it appropriate to reference my mother in support of the Donda idea. She died in 2013. Both of us share this loss. It was beautiful to create a clean album. Unfortunately, before I recorded my verse, I didn't know it was the plan. I knew that a clean, edited version of my verse wouldn't work without the original raw file. I was therefore omitted from the original album release.
The track that I wrote and received didn't include the diss verse. We had hoped to have a more focused offering for Donda, but things just happen the way they are supposed to. It is unfortunate that the track was released this way, and that two artists I love are back and forth. Certified Lover Boy was a place I wanted to be. I want to work with people who inspire me. I hope to work with Kendrick on his album. I would love to collaborate with Tyler, Jay-Z and Lil Baby. They are all my heroes.
