Politico reports that many veterans of the post-9/11 wars are dissatisfied with President Biden's withdrawal form Afghanistan. Some claim that it has led to an increase of PTSD symptoms.
"I haven’t spoken to anyone who isn’t angry or disappointed by how this was executed," Tom Porter, executive vice president of government affairs for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (which includes more than 425,000 veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan) told Politico. "Nobody believes there was a plan."
Jon Soltz is a veteran of Iraq and the chairman of VoteVets Democrat-aligned advocacy organization VoteVets. He believes that Biden shouldn't be the focus of all the criticisms about the U.S. withdrawal. He told Politico, "Let's examine." Let's start by talking about Trump's deal with Taliban. This was a deal between the United States, and not with the Afghan government. There are 19 years worth of administrations that we can look at if we want to investigate Afghanistan. We only have three months left of the Biden administration. Let's get this out of the way and talk about it. This administration is the least responsible. More information at Politico.
