Home Depot launched a smart-home app that allows you to control all the smart appliances and accessories in your home. However, it is hard to believe anyone would use it when Amazons Alexa and Google Home already exist.
According to Home Depot, Hubspace is a free app that allows ceiling fans, smart plugs, and light bulbs to be controlled from any location. It is compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and works with a limited number of Home Depot products, including EcoSmart and Hampton Bay. The press release states that the platform works with over 20 products and doesn't require a hub or additional equipment.
Okay, so you don't need a hub and can control third-party smart home devices from one app. This is great if you have a lot of different brands but don't want to set up an entire hub. There are many smart home products that can be controlled via their own smart home apps.
