Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, a thrilling fantasy adventure, is filled with great characters and stories. It would be one the most exciting superhero movies you've ever seen, even if it weren't a Marvel movie. It is, however, a Marvel movie. It is set in Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that it has post-credit scenes which tease exactly where it all fits.

Run away if you have not seen Shang-Chi. We will discuss below the ending credits sequences and their implications for the future MCU.
Okay, Shang-Chi has 2 scenes in the credits. One is in the middle and one is at the end. This is for the Marvel course. The middle scene picks up exactly where the movie ended. Shang-Chi is played by Simu Liu and Katy is played by Awkwafina. They are leaving dinner with their friends when Wong (Benedict Wong), asks them to go somewhere. He asks Shangs father where and when he got the Ten Rings. However, he doesn't know where. As Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), still recovering from Infinity Gauntlet snap, and Carol Danvers, (Brie Larson), watch, each representing a different school or scientific expertise, Banner explains how the Ten Rings look more than 1000 years old because of their molecular makeup. They are also made from no substance known to humans on Earth. Carol claims that she has never seen anything similar in her encounters with aliens during her space travels. Wong explained that Shang used them and a signal was sent from Earth. To where? We don't know. Bruce welcomes Carol to the circus as he and Carol leave. Wong advises the Marvel heroes to get some sleep, but they opt for karaoke instead.
A line from the film's final scene is used in the second post-credit scene. Shang mentions that Shang's sister Xialing (Menger Zhou) is on the run dismantling their father's criminal organization, also known as the Ten Rings. The scene opens with Xialing in her compound room. You would assume that she is in the middle of all this work. Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu), tells her that her people are still waiting. She then sits down on what appears to be a throne and says they have much work ahead of them. As the camera moves back, we see Xialing surrounded by her most trusted friends, Jon Jon (Ronny Chueng). The camera continues to pull back, revealing the new Ten Rings. The men are now training with the women, and everything is being upgraded to include Xialing's unique artistic style. A final card from The Ten Rings Will Return tells us that they will be improved and new this time.

Let's start with the second scene, which is quite obvious. Xialing aspired to the powerful empire that her father and brother had. She's taken control of the group and is reshaping it to her liking. It is up for debate whether she uses it for good and evil. However, one must assume that, because she lied about it to Shang-Chi, it could mean she becomes his enemy in a future solo adventure.

The first scene is clearly more complex. Although the audience is not expected to know what the Rings are calling for or where/when they came from, there are some possibilities. The comics might help us to guess. The rings may be from the Makluan, an ancient shape-shifting race from another galaxy. They could be contacted by the rings, which could lead to the creation of a new group of MCU villains, including Fin Fang Foom, the most well-known Makluan character. It is possible that the Dark Dwellers could be connected to the Rings, the ancient beings who are trapped in Ta Lo. They share some Dragon-y traits with Makluan. The film strongly suggests that the Dark Dwellers leader is calling out to Rings for their power and not because they have any connection.
While there are many possibilities, we would venture to guess that whatever the Rings are calling to is something new to Marvel Cinematic Universe. It might be similar to post-credits scenes in earlier films and may not pay off until years later. What do you think the Rings call out to? From where are they? What has Xialing planned for the Ten Rings organisation? Please let us know your thoughts below.
