Arsenal has signed Tobin Heath, a forward from the United States and two-time World Cup champion.
Last season, the 33-year old spent time at Manchester United's Women's Super League side.
Arsenal was not required to make the move because Heath was an unrestricted agent.
Before suffering an ankle injury, she scored four goals in eight WSL appearances and was awarded a bronze medal by the USA at this summer's Olympics.
Arsenal has not revealed the length of Heath’s contract.
"Tobin's record speaks louder than words. Jonas Eidevall, Arsenal's head coach, said that she is an extremely talented player and will bring so many years of experience to the team.
"This is a very exciting time for the club and I'm thrilled that Tobin was signed as we prepare for the new season at Emirates Stadium.
