Minnesota RB Mohamed Ibrahim's big night ends with lower leg injury

MINNEAPOLIS -- Mohamed Ibrahim, the Minnesota running back and star, was forced to leave Thursday's loss to No. 4 Ohio State has a lower left leg injury.

Ibrahim fell on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. He appeared to be hurt as he placed his left foot. After limping off the field, he went into Minnesota's injury tent and stayed there for several minutes. As he entered the locker room to undergo evaluation, the fifth-year senior was found with a walking boot on one leg.

Gophers coach P.J. Fleck didn't immediately know the status of Ibrahim.

Fleck stated, "Whatever it may be, we'll figure out and row and we will get better." "We will make sure he is healthy when we bring him back. We hope it isn't too serious, but we aren't sure.

Before his injury, Ibrahim was a great player for Minnesota. He logged 30 carries for 163 yard and two touchdowns. The Gophers were able to score a touchdown after a 56-yard run on fourth and 1 in the second quarter, when Minnesota was trailing 10-0.

Fleck stated that Mo had a total of thirty carries and [163] yards. He got tangled up on a tackle, which is just unfortunate.

Ibrahim, a Baltimore senior, was a third-team AP All-America Selection in 2020. He recorded his ninth consecutive 100-yard rushing performance. This streak is the longest in team history. He passed Laurence Maroney to move up to fourth place on Minnesota's all time list with his 33rd career touchdown rushing touchdown. Ibrahim became the eighth Minnesota player ever to surpass 3,000 career rushing miles on Thursday.

Ibrahim was already holding the team records for single season rushing average (153.7 in 2020), and single-game rush touchdowns (4) when he entered the season.
