A new report shows that Japan is now the most expensive country to send out overseas workers to work.
According to the "MyExpatriateMarketPay" survey conducted by ECA International, an average Japanese expatriate package costs $405,685 more than other international business hubs.
This study, which includes cash salaries, tax benefits, and other taxes points to an increase in the cost of Japanese expat packages for mid-level workers. This comes at a time when other parts of the globe saw accommodation and benefits prices take a hit because of the pandemic.
The U.K. dropped from the top spot and is now the second-most expensive place to send overseas workers in 2020. China, India and Hong Kong ranked higher on the overall cost ranking.
