Zack Scott, Mets acting general manger, has been placed on administrative leaves two days after being arrested in New York for driving under the influence. The team announced this Thursday.
Scott will be out of the team "until further notice", the Mets announced. Sandy Alderson, the team president, will take over the role of general manager.
Scott, 44, was taken into custody Tuesday morning in suburban White Plains. He was arrested after police found him asleep at his SUV at a red light and concluded that he was intoxicated. Police Capt. James Spencer stated that Scott did not consent to a breathalyzer.
According to electronic court records, Scott was released on bail without bond after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated Thursday and traffic violations. His driving privileges in New York were suspended. On Oct. 7, he will be back at White Plains City Court.
The team confirmed that Scott will be paid during his administrative leave.
According to the Mets, Scott was at Monday's fundraiser at Steve Cohen's Connecticut home. This event was attended also by players. Scott left the event at around 8:30-9 p.m.
After Jared Porter's firing, Scott was promoted to acting general manger in January. This was after Scott sent uninvited and sexually explicit text messages to a female reporter while working for the Chicago Cubs in 2016.
Scott was an assistant general manager for the Mets before joining them in December. He also spent 17 seasons with the Boston Red Sox.
Alderson was the Mets' general manager from 2010-2018. After the Mets' sale, Alderson was named president.
