I’m calling on the NCAA to boycott Texas (again) after SCOTUS allows abortion ban

The Texas law that bans abortions within six weeks of the termination date was passed by the U.S. Supreme Court. Fort Worth will host the Mens NCAA Tournament's first and second round games next March. San Antonio will host the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Texas must be boycotted by the NCAA.

This Texas law is blatantly against the Constitution right under Roe V. Wade, which President Joe Biden stated in a statement.

The NCAA should boycott Texas, especially since last month's study showed that they had been holding back women's sports. This is the executive summary from the NCAAs External Gender Equity Review.

These results have had a cumulative effect, not only creating distrust and skepticism about the NCAAs sincerity in committing to gender equity but also limiting women's basketball's growth and perpetuating the false narrative that women's basketball is doomed to lose money year after year. It is impossible to be more wrong. Women's basketball and all sports are in good shape.

In March, I suggested to the NIT (National Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament) that they boycott Texas following the election of Gov. Rick Perry. Greg Abbott removed the mask mandate. Six months later, I'm trying it again because Abbott is determined to risk the safety and health of millions of his citizens and future students and recruits who might be interested in attending school in the state.

The NCAA won't be in trouble if they boycott Texas next year for March Madness events, unlike March. They have plenty of time to find other venues. The Bathroom Bill is a good example of how the NCAA can be influenced by social and political issues. The NCAA lifted its ban on North Carolina in April 2017 after it passed a law that eliminated anti-discrimination protections to lesbian, gay and bisexual people. This law required them to use public bathrooms that were aligned with their gender on birth certificates. The controversial bill was repealed by the North Carolina governor and legislature. North Carolina was to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament games in 2017. These games ended up moving to South Carolina.

In 2019, Georgia Governor. Brian Kemp signed into law the heartbeat bill, which outlaws abortions after a heartbeat is detected. This usually happens around six weeks. More than 12 states had passed or attempted to pass stricter abortion laws at the time. This meant that at least 25% of the country was trying remove women's rights.

It is difficult to ask the NCAA to care for women in a state where it doesn't care. This suggestion is delusional at best and a pipe dream at worst. The NCAA took tournament games from North Carolina, a state that was basketball-crazed, and placed them in South Carolina.

A broken clock is said to be right twice per day. According to my watch, the time seems to be now for the impossible to occur again. Boycott Texas.
