FRISCO (Texas) -- Coach Mike McCarthy announced Thursday that the Dallas Cowboys have activated wide receiver CeeDee Lam, safety Damontae Kazee, and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins, who are on the reserve/COVID-19 roster.
Watkins was sent home on Aug. 21 before the Cowboys' preseason match against the Houston Texans, while Lamb and Kazee were put on the reserve roster on Aug. 24. To allow a player who has been vaccinated to return to the team's facility, they must pass two consecutive negative tests that are separated by 24 hours.
Before the Cowboys' opening against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Noah Brown and guard Connor Williams remain on the COVID List.
Since the Cowboys returned to Oxnard in California in August, Lamb has not participated in full practice with Dak Prescott. Prescott participated in team drills last week for the first time since July 27, and will again this week when the Cowboys resume practice after a three-day mandatory break.
Kazee is expected to start, and Watkins will likely be a major part of the defensive-line rotation.
McCarthy stated that the Cowboys have also placed defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, tight end Sean McKeon (ankle), and offensive tackle Josh Ball(ankle), cornerback Kelvin Joe (groin), wide receiver Malik Turner [foot] and linebacker Frances Bernard (“hamstring”) on injured reserve. They will be out for at least three of the remaining games.
