American Airlines added three seasonal routes to Austin during a two-and-a half week period. It is not even South By Southwest. American Airlines will begin offering flights on December 16, 2021, and January 3, 2022.

According to Cirum Diio Mi data, the December schedule of airlines currently lists 35 destinations.
American will offer 327,754 flights and 292,893,855 miles total from Austin in December.
The airline is still in second place at the airport with Southwest scheduled 5309 flights, 753,687 seat and 808,591,181 miles. Southwest's presence in Austin is so large that it offers almost twice as many seat miles to Austin than American, Alaska and JetBlue combined.
Austin has been one the most rapidly-growing aviation markets in America for many years. We can track the city's growth more broadly. Austin's growth is not limited to UT Austin or Dell Computers. It also includes Google, Facebook and Apple. It's Oracle, Facebook and Indeed.
American Airlines looked at marginal adds to non-hub routes in Austin Boston San Jose and Weekend Cabo to supplement its flights, which were limited to 8 hubs at the time.
They announced 10 new destinations in Austin in March, despite the increasing popularity of leisure travel and the need to find places to fly with business travelers. American announced 14 additional destinations in June, doubling down on Austin. The airline is rapidly becoming a hub for connecting flights in Austin almost by chance.
These new routes are almost an afterthought in Austin's service, but it is interesting to see more growth, Americans strategy to add temporary flights, as well as the willingness to do more with Austin.
