Our favorite startups from YC’s Summer 21 Demo Day, Part 2 – TechCrunch

The second day of Y Combinators S21 Demo Day gave us a glimpse of the future of innovation, with everything from actors being beamed into the classroom to taking things out of the space, and nearly 200 startups participating.
Yesterday TechCrunch covered the first half and the startups that made one-minute pitches. Even a podcast was made about it. Today we are doing it again. Below is a complete list of all startups who presented today. Also, below are our votes for Day Two's best Y Combinator pitches. These were the ones that made us stop and think, even though we had to go through hundreds of pitches per day.

Spark Studio

My experience with Indian culture has been that it values science and math more than any other subject. This is why Spark Studios' online enrichment approach was so refreshing. The YC company offers extracurricular learning classes that are live and available to children in Indian homes. The classes focus on communication, music, art, and other creative skills. Outschool's success shows that small-group classes can be a cost-effective way to complement traditional education. Spark Studio sells to children between 5 and 15, who are highly exploratory, impressionable years.

My predominantly Indian family friends were the only ones who didn't gravitate towards STEM when I was growing up. My interest in reading and writing was not sated by any other services than the local library. Spark Studio, if it is trusted by parents, could make otherwise unusual interests more common. Spark Studio already has over 400 students and less than 2 percent churn. This gives it early indications that they may be on to something. Natasha

Litnerd

The best books don't feel like homework. They feel like trips to another world and conversations with friends. Litnerd aims to bring the immersive, engaging feeling of reading to millions of students while encouraging literacy and habit formation. Litnerd has actors reading and acting out works, making school reading more fun for children.
