Facebook has added fantasy-sports-like prediction games to its platform. These will allow users to guess what's going on in pop culture, TV, and sports. These new games are called Facebook Fantasy Games and will be available on both the iOS and Android app for US and Canadian users.
Pick & Play Sports is the first available game. It's a daily prediction game for sports that it created in partnership with Whistle Sports. It was available in the iOS App for me so it may be available for you. Facebook will soon release more games for television shows such as The Bachelorette or Survivor. They also plan to launch sports leagues such as Major League Baseball and one created with BuzzFeed. You can create your own leagues or compete with smaller groups.
These games don't allow you to place real money on the lines. You will have to manage those transactions yourself if you wish to enter wagers. Facebook doesn't appear to be offering traditional fantasy leagues at the moment. This could mean that Facebook is competing with ESPN and DraftKings in fantasy sports.
In an effort to retain its users, Facebook has expanded into gaming in recent months. To circumvent Apple's App Store restrictions, the company created a web application for its cloud gaming service. It was available to iOS users in July. Facebook Gaming, a streaming service similar to Twitch, is also available. These fantasy games are different from traditional gaming offerings but are a good fit for Facebook. It is easy to share bold choices on your feed and watch the reactions roll in.
