Trump Organization security chief Matthew Calamari Jr., son of top executive, to testify before Manhattan grand jury

Donald Trump, former President of the United States speaks at a rally in Cullman (AL).
Matthew Calamari Jr. is the Trump Organization's chief operating officer and director of security. He will testify before a Manhattan grand jury on Thursday. A person with direct knowledge of this matter spoke to CNBC Wednesday.

Calamari Jr. was subpoenaed for his testimony this week, according to the person.

To discuss the secret grand jury proceedings, the person refused to be identified.

This development comes two months after Allen Weisselberg (chief financial officer) was charged with tax-avoidance schemes that spanned 15 years. Weisselberg, as well as the Trump Organization, have pleaded not guilty.

Calamari Jr. could be granted immunity protections in the long-running and extensive criminal investigation by Manhattan District attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Letitia James, New York Attorney General, is also investigating Trump's company in a "criminal capacity."
