We are getting Prodigy, an animated series that will be bringing new life to Star Trek. While we are still waiting to see more than the Comic-Con teaser, we now have a peek at the opening titles.

The titles were released as part of Prodigys presence in the Television Critics Association Summer conference. They feature a new main melody by Michael Giacchino. Giacchino has a ridiculous list of credits across TV and film, including the Kelvin timeline movies Star Trek, Into Darkness and Beyond. The Prodigys theme has all the bombast Giacchino is famous for. It was brought to Trek in themes such as Enterprising Young Men and it has the type of soaring, sweeping vibes that you would expect from a Star Trek theme song. If you are not in the U.S., check out the sequence below or here.
The stunning visuals that follow the series' lead ship, the Starfleet vessel U.S.S. Protostar zooms through beautiful spatial anomalies, planets and debris fields, all the while forming parts of Prodigy's young alien heroes. Then there's the huge holographic Janeway smile! It is so wonderful to see Janeway again in the title sequence, as she serves as the guide for the next generation of Starfleet explorers. Even the Protostar has Voyager-like design parallels. Janeways' iconic vessel would raise it into the Enterprise shape to go at warp speed. However, the Protostar seems to lower its nacelles to something more similar to Voyagers standard design. This sweet little detail ties the series even further together.
Paramount+ will soon be able to show Star Trek: Prodigy later in the year. As part of the CBS Star Trek 55th Anniversary celebrations, you will no doubt find out more about the series on Wednesday September 8.
