Picky Astronauts Refuse to Put Pineapple on Space Pizza

"Everything except pineapple would be considered a serious offense in Italy."
Pizza Night With Friends

As seen in this clip, astronaut Thomas Pesquet from the European Space Agency uploaded it to Instagram.

Pesquet added a caption to the caption: "Floating pizza night with friends. It almost feels like Saturday on Earth." It is said that a good chef doesn't reveal their secrets. But I made a video so that you could be the judge.

The crew also celebrated Megan McArthur, a NASA astronaut and current crew member's 50th birthday. She tweeted Monday that My Space Brothers had gone all out and made tortilla-pizzas and quesadillas with real cheese.

[Hand Gesture]

To avoid any criticism from Italians looking back at the ground, Pesquet made one important omission when topping their pizzas.

Pesquet said that everything but pineapple is a serious offense in Italy. (Though it's unclear if there was any pineapple aboard the ISS).

Hawaiian pizza is not so controversial. The pies were actually made with tortillas as the base. It would be a scandal to offend Italians!

Space Oven

The clip features the crew making their own pizzas, with pepperoni slices and tortillas suspended in mid-air.

It appears that the tomato sauce acts as the glue, which is crucial for microgravity.

Overall, the final result is quite tasty, but it's still far from the pizza you would get in Italy.

The station was able to get its own oven in 2019, thanks to NanoRacks and Zero G Kitchen. NanoRacks and Zero G Kitchen built the device that was used to bake the first ever cookies in space.

Although it is not clear if Pesquet or his crew used the Zero G Oven for baking their pizzas, it seems unlikely considering that the cookies had been baked for several hours according to BBC.

This kind of restraint is not possible for anyone, even in space.
