Sammis Reyes will make Washington Football Team's roster, become first Chilean-born NFL player

ASHBURN (Va.) -- Washington Football Team tight end Sammis Remis will be on the 53-man roster. A source claimed that Reyes is the first NFL player to be born in Chile.
After he had participated in Florida's pro-day, Washington signed Reyes. Reyes was removed by the International Pathway Program after he signed. Washington offered Reyes a three-year contract with a $392,000.600 signing bonus.

Washington also has Logan Thomas and John Bates, both rookies at tight end. Reyes is considered their greatest blocker by the coaches. Although he's still a rookie in the passing game Washington didn't want to lose him. He was always considered someone with long-term potential.

Reyes' journey was complicated by his inability to play organized football for more than one week before he joined Washington. Reyes was a Florida high school junior and practiced for one week with his football team before switching to basketball.

At the age of 14, he came to America without his parents to play high school basketball. He said that he was offered basketball scholarships by 25 Division I schools after he changed schools twice. Reyes often stated that his ultimate goal was to play for the NBA. Reyes played two years at Tulane and one year at Loyola of New Orleans.

Reyes made the decision to play football in January 2020 and started training with trainers from northern Virginia.

Washington is also expected to keep Jaret Patterson, an undrafted free-agent runningback and former NCAA record holder at Buffalo, who ran for eight touchdowns per game. Washington has already released Jonathan Williams and veteran Peyton Barber, two of its five backs. Antonio Gibson and J.D. Patterson and Antonio Gibson remain on the roster with J.D.
