Which Hotel Programs Let You Earn Points For Multiple Rooms?

Different loyalty programs have different policies about how many elite qualifying nights and points you can earn for booking multiple rooms. If you travel frequently with your family and book multiple rooms, will you be eligible to receive elite credits or points for each room?

What hotel loyalty programs allow you to earn points for multiple rooms

Each loyalty program has its own rules, so I decided to examine the policies of major hotel loyalty programs. I will be focusing on how they affect earning points and elite credit for multiple rooms. (In the title of each section, I have added a link with the terms and conditions).

You can earn points for as many rooms as you like with Accor Live Limitless, provided that all applicable charges are paid by the member. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room.

Hilton Honors allows you to earn base points for up four rooms provided that all eligible charges are paid on the same folio. You can only earn elite qualifying stays and night credits for one hotel room. It is important to note that you can earn base points for up four rooms. This is because many people are eligible for status with Hilton by spending.

IHG Rewards Club allows you to earn points up to nine rooms in properties across the United States, Canada and Europe. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room. You can't earn points for rooms outside of these regions.

Marriott Bonvoy allows you to earn points for up three rooms provided that the member pays for them all. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room.

Radisson Rewards allows you to earn points for bookings of up to three rooms on the same reservation. This assumes that the member is the registered guest in one room. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room.

World of Hyatt allows you to earn points for up three rooms, provided that the member pays for all three. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room.

Wyndham Rewards allows you to earn points for up three rooms, provided that the member pays for all three. You can only earn elite qualifying nights credits for one room.

Many hotel programs allow you to earn points for multiple rooms

You must remember these important points to earn hotel points

There are a few things you should know about the different programs that offer points for multiple rooms.

To qualify, the member must be residing in one of the rooms.

This works best if all rooms booked under the name of the primary guests who will be earning points. Then, the people actually staying at the additional rooms can be added to the reservations as additional guests.

Although it is not required for all programs, I ask that all charges be placed on one folio. I find that the stay posts are correct most consistently when this happens. Make sure to use a credit card that maximizes hotel spending.

Only eligible stays are allowed, which can vary by program. This often excludes third-party bookings.

You must stay at the same hotel. In other words, points cannot be earned for stays at different hotels the same night. However, elite nights can be posted for different locations in some cases with a good explanation.

It is a good idea to ask for all charges to be placed on one folio

Multiple hotel rooms eligible for elite benefits

Technically, elite benefits are only available for one room in all programs. This refers to the elite member's room.

One exception is Hyatts Guest Of Honor benefit. Hyatt Globalist members will be able to redeem points and free night certificates for another person, and the guest will also receive Globalist benefits.

World of Hyatts' Guest of Honor perk is my favorite

This doesn't work for cash stays or Points + Cash stays. Also, you don't need to invite other guests to your stay. Even if you are not traveling with the guest, you can still use the Guest Of Honor benefit to book a hotel stay for another person.

It all comes down to each hotel. Although hotels don't have to offer elite benefits to multiple rooms on paper, they may choose to do so in practice.

Hyatt Honor Elite benefits have been available to me on two rooms I booked even though the second room was not booked with Guest Of Honor.

I have had Marriott upgrade multiple rooms beyond the one I am the primary member of.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member, I have had my second room upgraded.

My approach is that elite benefits are not available for multiple rooms. Hyatts Guest Of Honor perk is the exception. But don't be surprised if they do.

This is why I try to plan a strategy for obtaining elite-perks for multiple rooms. Many benefits, such as breakfast or lounge access, are only useful or fun if they can also be shared with other travelers. These are just a few examples.

With credit cards it is easy to earn Hilton Honors Diamond and Hilton Honors Gold status. I prefer Hiltons for my family because everyone has status.

Many programs that offer elite-like perks such as free breakfast, a room upgrading, and more are available through travel agents. So booking through them can make a lot sense.

It's wonderful to share benefits like breakfast with your family

Bottom line

Starwood Preferred Guest was my favorite hotel back in the day. You could earn elite night credits for up to three rooms. However, that is no longer the case. The Marriott Bonvoy program has retained the old Marriott Rewards policy. No major hotel loyalty program allows you to earn elite night credits for multiple rooms. You can still earn points for multiple rooms which is often a great opportunity.

World of Hyatt has the best program for booking multiple rooms. Guest of Honor is a great option, but it doesn't offer elite qualifying nights. It is a way to redeem points or get free night certificates for elite benefits in multiple rooms.

How have you found earning points and getting elite benefits for multiple rooms? What do the different policies have on which hotel chain you choose to stay?
