Marriott Bonvoy just announced the details of its latest global promo. Marriott's latest global promotion was not available for other large hotel groups this summer. It was only announced that the program's last offer would be ending in April 2021. This new promotion is not something to be excited about.

Marriott Bonvoy offers bonus points for every stay

Bonvoy members may register for Marriott's latest global promotion. This offers 1,500 bonus points per stay and 3,000 bonus points for all-inclusive stays.

This promotion applies to stays booked between September 14th and December 12th 2021.

Registering is required before you can stay for your first eligible trip. Registration closes November 28, 2021

Start your stay with the promotion

This promotion is only for paid stays. Award stays are not eligible.

There are no limits to the number of bonus points that you can earn

Within seven business days of your check-out, you will receive your bonus points

Participating hotels worldwide are all eligible and there is no minimum stay requirement to receive the bonus

What is the value of this Marriott Bonvoy promotion

Not at all, unfortunately. The promotion is quite straightforward and you can start earning bonus points when you book your first paid hotel stay. This promotion's positive aspects are overshadowed by its negative side. Bonvoy points are worth 0.7 cents per piece, which is:

1500 bonus points equal $10.50 for me

$21 for 3,000 bonus points

This means that for every paid stay (not award stays), you earn the equivalent of $10.50. This is a decent offer if you stay for just one night at a property, but it's not the best if you stay longer at expensive properties.

It would be reasonable to think that Marriott would encourage Bonvoy members to stay longer at luxury properties and spend more, but the promotion doesn't encourage such behavior.

Earn normal Marriott Bonvoy points

Marriott Bonvoy members normally earn, even though this promotion is not included.

Spend at least $1 to earn 10x Bonvoy points

5x Bonvoy points for every dollar spent at Element or Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites

There are also elite bonuses

Silver Elite members earn 10% bonus points

Gold Elite members receive 25% bonus points

Platinum Elite members earn 50% bonus points

Titanium Elite & Ambassador Elite members earn 75% bonus points

These points are not applicable to credit card purchases at hotels.

Titanium members with co-branded credit cards earn 23.5x Bonvoy Points per dollar. This is a return of approximately 16% on hotel spending at a value of 0.7 cents per points.

Bottom line

Marriott Bonvoy has announced the details of its latest global promo, which members must register for. Members will receive 1,500 bonus points for each paid stay and an additional 3,00 points for all-inclusive paid stays. This promotion is quite modest, especially considering that Marriott Bonvoy was not the only major hotel chain to offer it this summer.
