James' January 2019 move from Swansea to Leeds failed at the last moment
Leeds United is closing in on a club-record 30m deal to sign Manchester United's winger Daniel James.
Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds coach, has been closely monitoring James since January 2019, when the Welshman moved to Elland Road from Swansea.
James joined United in the following summer, scoring nine goals in 74 games for the Red Devils.
Leeds considered making a move in the last summer window, but instead they brought in Brazilian Raphinha.
Bielsa, however, has returned for the 23-year old, as James faces uncertain future at Manchester United once Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival from Juventus is confirmed.
It is understood that a fee has already been agreed in principle. Only the last details need to be finalized.
This fee would set a new club record for West Yorkshire, surpassing Valencia's 29m euro (24.8m), they paid for Rodrigo 12 month ago.
