A China Express Airlines Bombardier Canadair CRJ-900 flew over the runway at Aksu Airport (ZWAK), Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, on 29 August.
AvHerald reports that the aircraft, four-and-half years old and registered B-3250, was performing flight G54394 (from Korla to Aksu, China) with 64 passengers, nine crew, and had been held at 6,000 meters (19.700 feet) for approximately 10 minutes before it began its approach to runway 27,
The aircraft touched down safely, but it overran the runway and came to a halt on the soft ground approximately 76 meters from the runway's end. It was also about 16 meters away from the runway safety area.
Below is a video of passengers being evacuated using the overwing exits. Four passengers sustained minor injuries and had to slide down or jump off the flaps.

China's Civil Aviation Authority opened an investigation into the incident. However, no further details were released. If more information becomes available, this post will be updated.
Aksu Airport has a runway configuration 09/27 that measures 2400m in length at 3800ft/1160m elevation.
China Express Airlines operates 148 routes, mainly CRJ900s. It is based in Guiyang Longdongbao, KWE / ZUGY.
