Nick Foles Trade Rumors: Bears 'Will Listen,' but Won't Move QB if He Doesn't Want To

According to reports, the Chicago Bears would consider trading Nick Foles for a trade if one is made. However, they won't put him in a position where he's not comfortable.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported that the Bears will listen to offers before Week 1, but they are happy keeping Foles on the roster. Foles will be the Bears' third string quarterback, behind Andy Dalton (and Justin Fields).

Foles' base salary of $4 million this season and $1 million of his 2022 salary are all paid by the Bears. Foles is expected to be the NFL's most costly third-string quarterback. Some teams don't even have three quarterbacks.

Although it wouldn't be difficult for the Bears not to trade Foles, there is no obvious suitor. Although the Indianapolis Colts seemed like a good bet after Carson Wentz’s foot injury, he is now recovering well and could be available Week 1.

"Listen, Frank Reich, one of my favorite coaches, if it is not my favorite coach of all time. Foles stated earlier this month that he understands me as an athlete. He understands me as an individual. You know what? I haven’t had any conversations with them. Right now, I'm a Chicago Bear. He knows me and he understands."

All other quarterback situations in the NFL are settled, unless Dak Prescott is injured. If Foles is not injured, it seems likely that the Bears will eat his base salary and let him hold a clipboard for the rest of the season.
