European Union Could Ban Non-Essential Travel From U.S. as Early as Monday

The European Union is removing the United States from its list of safe countries for non-essential travel due to the alarming spread of Covid Delta.
This would happen less than two months after U.S. was added to the list. The hopes of a resurgent travel industry are now short-lived.

According to media reports, the EU decision could be made as soon as Monday.

Travel companies trying to maximize tourist traffic this summer are not pleased that U.S. citizens would be prohibited from travelling to Europe in the fall season. A number of U.S. airlines also revised their financial forecasts for fall, based on the spread and impact of the Delta variant in the US.

The European Union's decision will cause the stock prices of American travel companies to plummet.

The U.S. maintains its ban on any non-essential travel to Europe.

According to Skift Researchs Recovery Index, which tracks 22 countries, travel recovery is already showing signs of strain.
