'Your life is your own,' Naomi Osaka posts a powerful message, and Ted Lasso takes notice

Ted Lasso and Naomi Osaka are tired of negative self-talk.
The tennis star turned social media user Sunday to reflect on her year so far and to make a new commitment for herself in the future. This prompt response was swift from the famous fictional American football coach who became an English football manager.

In a long note posted to Instagram and Twitter, the US Open champion at 23 expressed gratitude for her "completely unsurpassed" support system. She also addressed a misconception about how humble she is. Four-time Grand Slam winner, the woman clarified that her perceived modesty was a result of being "extremelyself-deprecating."

Osaka acknowledged how she had questioned and maligned herself and promised to start a new chapter. "I'm going to try to celebrate me and my accomplishments more, because I believe we all should. Osaka acknowledged that she had questioned herself and was ashamed of her actions. You are the only person in your life and you should not judge others.

Forbes' most-paid female athlete -- Osaka made $60 million between May 1, 2020 and May 1, 2021. She broke the previous record. Osaka continued, "I know that I give my heart out to everything I can. If that's not enough for some then I apologise but I cannot burden myself with those expectations anymore."

Ted Lasso was a fan of her poignant message.

AFC Richmond's highly-contested face (sorry Jamie Tartt; no disrespect Roy Kent) quickly tweeted his approval and retweeted Osaka's sentiments as only he could.

All of it is true. Small victories are easier to take with you. I am proud to say that I was the one who popped every kernel of popcorn in the microwave. https://t.co/mwcufdqk4z Ted Lasso (@TedLasso) August 29, 2021

This collaboration is something we can support, seeing as Ted Lasso has been a reliable source of joy for the past year.

Osaka should use this friendship to get some free biscuits, even though it is unrelated.
