Cristiano Ronaldo watched over Molineux

Cristiano Ronaldo was in Portugal, but he was at Molineux.

He is expected to make a remarkable return to Manchester United before the transfer deadline day. Even though he is currently in Lisbon for a medical, his presence is felt prior to, during, and after Sunday's win against Wolves.

United fans were in a carnival mood celebrating the arrival of one their greatest players. It was an extraordinary outpouring for love that is rarely seen among any player.

"Viva Ronaldo" was the song that United fans sang on the train to the West Midlands and on the walk to the stadium.

The crowd was spotted with flags of Portugal and 'Viva Ronaldo" signs

United supporters wore CR7 Tshirts and waved 'welcome Back Ronaldo' signs. They also held cardboard cutouts of five-time Ballon d'Or winners.

The supporters weren't the only ones celebrating.

After the match, David de Gea, United's goalkeeper, said to Sky Sports that it was like "a dream" to have him back.

Fans old and new celebrated Ronaldo's return.

"I hope he can bring something to the team that will make it even better."

Ronaldo could make his United debut against Newcastle on Saturday 11 September before a jubilant Old Trafford crowd.

"He's a special man, or boy now - he was a boy with me when we played." Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United boss, said that we all want to see that happen.

"Obviously, the players are excited. Some have played with him in their national teams. The fans are excited, you can see it. He's a special player, and that's exactly what he does.

Although United won against Wolves, United's performance was not stellar. It could have been helped by an intervention from a player who has scored 476 goals over 586 league appearances. This may increase the chances that the 36-year old will be featured immediately after the international break.

"He isn't signing up to be a bench player. Solskjaer stated that he is going to make our team a better one.
