Hurricane Ida strikes New Orleans 16 years after Hurricane Katrina made landfall.
According to reports, the Category 4 storm has reached maximum wind speeds of 150 mph and is expected to continue to move through Louisiana and western Mississippi on Sunday night and Monday.
The hurricane is expected cause widespread power outages along the Gulf coast and to cause more than $200 billion worth of property damage. Officials from the Louisiana government have asked residents to seek shelter and to conserve power while emergency services respond.
