WTF is Howie Roseman doing in Philly?

The Philadelphia Eagles traded a sixth-round conditional draft pick to Jacksonville Jaguars for quarterback Gardner Minshew. You read that right. Three quarterbacks are now on the Eagles roster: starter Jalen Hurts, former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco.

This move is not for Hurts. Hurts is the QB Number One and trading for another young QB does not show their confidence in Hurts. Minshew will not be challenging Hurts for the job of starting quarterback, but that isn't necessarily a bad look for the Eagles.

After drafting Hurts second round in 2020's draft, the Eagles have moved on from Carson Wentz. That move was not appreciated by Wentz, which is understandable. The Eagles pull the exact same move again a year later. Your QB should always be looking over his shoulder for the next guy. That's how you create a winning culture.

Only a few years ago, the Eagles were still at the top of the NFL mountain following their victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. This franchise has been thrown off the top of the NFL mountain faster than the coin flip from that Super Bowl.

This is a great time to make a move.

Howie Roseman, general manager, is building quite an impressive resume of questionable decisions. Roseman fired Doug Pederson and signed Nick Sirianni as his first head coach. Roseman was the most experienced person for the job. Roseman has done it again for Minshew.

Roseman's decision to give up a late-round conditional draft pick is not the worst in the world. However, it's still questionable. Roseman seems to be continuing to steer this team in the wrong direction for a man who was supposed to restore the Eagles back to their Super Bowl glory days a few years ago.

Joe Flacco, a veteran of the Philly QB Room, is also here. Flacco is this it? The Eagles may want to keep Roseman around to guide and teach the two young quarterbacks. Roseman's decision-making style in Philly over recent years makes it highly likely that Roseman will also make a fool of himself and let Flacco do his business outside the Eagles organization.
