Aberdeen 1-1 Ross County: Break a chance to 'fix issues' - Glass

Christian Ramirez scored at Pittodrie with just two minutes remaining

Stephen Glass claims that the international break allows his Aberdeen team to "fix some problems" after their loss against Ross County.

Christian Ramirez's goal in the final minute secured a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premiership. However, Aberdeen, who were out of Europe in midweek has not won in five.

Regan Charles Cook had led struggling County in the first half.

Glass stated, "We have good players in the building right now, and we've got players who are hungry to improve,"

"We have the opportunity to fix some problems that are starting to present themselves today."

Aberdeen gave their debuts to Matty Longstaff, and Austin Samuels. They drop to fourth in the league on eight points. Ninth-placed County is still looking for a first league victory on two points.

County was pinned down for most of the first half but he had the best early chances. Scott Brown gave Jordan White possession and he set Callachan up to shoot straight at Lewis.

Malky Mackay had to make a change after David Cancola was injured. Harry Paton joined Ben on the pitch.

The substitute was a key part of the first goal. After Blair Spittal's cross was cleared, he fired in a shot and Charles-Cook was there to slot home.

Aberdeen tried to exploit Samuels's pace, and Aberdeen almost succeeded when he grabbed Calvin Ramsay’s charming chip. But it was too late.

Newcastle loaned Longstaff to Laidlaw, who then attempted a bouncing shot.

Charles-Cook missed an opportunity to double his score by shooting calmly at Lewis.

Funso Ojo couldn't convert Samuels' dangerously low cross in the midst of frantic County defense.

Callachan escaped the Aberdeen defense and Lewis, after Charles-Cook sent him through with a lovely flick. Ramsay cleared the line and set Aberdeen back on attack.

They were nearly level in seconds, as Lewis Ferguson was denied by Laidlaw. The ball was caught under Ramirez's feet before County cleared.

Ferguson was then forced to leave a hazardous area by Alex Iacovitti, who had to oblige him to budge under extreme pressure. This task he accomplished admirably while keeping his back straight to the goal.

County was aiming to live a happy life, and finally gave up after Jonny Hayes' substitute shot passed through Laidlaw's grasp. Ramirez scored the winning goal.

What have we learned?

County couldn't have asked for a more difficult opening set of fixtures. They met four of the top six teams last season and will be meeting Celtic Park next.

Aberdeen had five central midfielders, Ross McCrorie in defense and Ojo positioned wide right.

County was unable to cope with the makeshift formation. Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Marley Watkins, and Hayes were added by Glass in the last half-hour.

David Bates' signature was signed before kick-off to give the Aberdeen boss additional options defensively.

What were they saying?

Stephen Glass, Aberdeen manager: "Disappointing 90 minute in the fact we didn't make possession count and get three points.

"If we had a little more quality in the last third, it would be a different outcome." Here, we want three points.

Malky Mackay, Ross County manager: "Normally coming to this point would probably be considered a good point.

"We are disappointed by the way that we played, how we pressed Aberdeen, and more importantly the opportunities we created."

What's next?

Aberdeen will face Motherwell on September 11th (15:00 BST), while County is away at Celtic (15:00).
