Manchester United has seven points from their three opening games
Manchester United won 2-0 against Wolves after Cristiano Ronaldo announced that they had reached an agreement with the forward.
Ronaldo wasn't at Molineux, but United's traveling fans sang his name. The Red Devils are expected to confirm Ronaldo's arrival from Juventus for 12.8m in the next days.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was second to the Wolves' pitch for long periods, before Mason Greenwood won a contentious late win.
Although Ruben Neves was criticized by Wolves during the build-up, the goal was accepted.
Wolves could have gone 3-0 up in 15 minutes. Raul Jimenez forced David de Gea to make an early save and Aaron Wan-Bissaka made a goal-saving block against Trincao.
United was second for long periods, and it took a remarkable double save from Romain Saiss by De Gea to stop Wolves taking the lead.
Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't at Molineux, but his presence was felt through T-shirts and banners, flags, and a cardboard cutout
Cardboard cutouts, 'Viva Ronaldo!' chants
Molineux was filled with a carnival atmosphere. The arrival of Hwang Heechan, a new striker for Wolves, was greeted with excitement by Wolves fans. United's traveling supporters sang Ronaldo throughout the match.
Two hours before kickoff, outside could be heard chanting 'Viva Ronaldo!
Molineux: United fans wore T-shirts CR7, held up signs welcoming Ronaldo back, and wore replica shirts that had Ronaldo's name on them.
A cardboard cutout Ronaldo was also displayed by supporters, while Solskjaer excitedly spoke before the match about the impending return of the 36 year-old.
Solskjaer praises Greenwood's "special" in a hard-fought victory
"I'm excited about continuing to build this squad. The United boss said that he would bring something entirely new.
"Hopefully Cristiano will be able to come in and show us what he's done throughout his career.
He loves all the talk about getting old. He will be able to show you what he can do if you make it personal.
A familiar story for Wolves
After a third consecutive 1-0 loss, the Wolves are still without a point under Bruno Lage.
Adama Traore's unmatched pace ensured that his side began on the front foot against United, who struggled to match their opening-weekend victory over Leeds.
It was however, a familiar ending to Wolves.
They have lost six of their last six Premier League matches despite making 15 attempts at scoring in their first three games.
Raphael Varane's first United start was marked by an important block against Trincao. De Gea's second stop at Saiss was an early contender to save the season.
Wolves protested with Mike Dean, the referee, after Greenwood's goal was upheld.
"They stated before the season began that they would look for contact. If the contact is strong enough they will give the foul. Sky Sports interviewed the midfielder after the match, saying that he had shown him his leg.
He said, "You both go to the ball" and I replied, "Yes, we both go for the ball", but I was the one who touched it." It's a foul.
Lage was going to have a difficult start against Leicester, Tottenham, and Manchester United.
The Portuguese however knows that his team must start scoring points in the first two games after the international break against Brentford and Watford.
