This is a great time to purchase an e-reader, whether you're looking for a school gift or a vacation device. Amazon reduced the price of its 8GB Kindle Paperwhite ad-supported model to $71 in a single-day sale. This is well below the $130 official sticker. This is a significant discount from the $130 sticker we saw two weeks ago. The 32GB and ad-free versions can be purchased with significant discounts.

If you are new to e-readers, or have a lot of money invested in Amazon's ecosystem, the Kindle Paperwhite is a great choice. The Kindle Paperwhite features a high-contrast, backlit display and waterproofing. This, along with the standard weeks-long battery life of ereaders, will make it easy to take with you on vacation.

It is not perfect. The LTE model is not covered by this deal, so you won’t be reading while on the beach. MP3 playback and text-to-speech support are not available on these models. You might also be disappointed to see advertisements. These limitations are not surprising, but at this price it's much easier to forget them. You can also spend more on readers with fewer functions.
