A former interior minister claimed that the Taliban had killed a prominent Afghan singer.
Fawad Andarabi was apparently dragged from the village home and shot to death.
After an interview with a Taliban spokesperson, who stated that music was forbidden in Islam, the killing occurred.

According to a former minister, the Taliban murdered a popular Afghan singer after declaring that it wanted to ban music being played in public places in Afghanistan.
Masoud Andarabi said that Fawad Andarabi was "brutally murdered" on Saturday. He was the Interior Minister under former Afghan President Ashraf Gani in a tweet.
According to LBC News, he was reportedly taken from his village home near the Panjshir valley and dragged before being shot dead.

Masoud Andarabi posted a message accompanying a video showing the folk singer performing, "Today they brutally murdered folkloric singer Fawad Andarabi which was simply brining [sic] Joy to the Valley and its people," Masoud wrote.
A spokesperson for the Taliban stated that music is prohibited in Islam during a Wednesday interview with The New York Times.
Zabihullah Mujahid is a candidate for the role of culture minister in the new government. He told the paper that the Taliban wants to "persuade people not to play music".
According to The Guardian, all music was banned by the Taliban during the previous period. According to The Guardian, cassette tapes were destroyed and musical instruments banned. Even captive songbirds were outlawed.
The Taliban will not stop music. India Today reports that female voices on radio and TV have been banned.
