Maxwel Cornet: Burnley sign Lyon's Ivory Coast forward for £12.85m

Burnley has signed Maxwel Cornet, an Ivory Coast international Maxwel Cornet for 15m Euros (12.85m).

The club has signed a five year deal for the 24-year-old who can play on either side of attack or defense.

After joining from Metz in 2014, the former France youth international scored 51 goals in Lyon's 252 matches.

He is the Clarets fourth summer signing, following goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and Nathan Collins.

Cornet stated, "I am thrilled to join Burnley in Premier League and play against many of the best players in the world,"

"I have the deepest respect for Burnley and all that they have done. I am open to the challenge of hardwork and I am 100% committed to making a difference. I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish."

After the international break, he will join the squad as a teammate. Ivory Coast plays Mozambique in World Cup qualifiers.

Burnley chairman Alan Pace said, "We are delighted to have secured such talent with Champions League pedigree."
