Willian: Arsenal forward saving club £20m as move to Brazilian side Corinthians edges closer

Willian saves Arsenal 20m by leaving the club to join Brazilian team Corinthians on a free transfer.
Willian still has two years on his Arsenal contract at 240,000 per week. But instead of asking for a payment or staying at Emirates, he will tear down his contract and sign with Corinthians within the next 48 hours.

The 33-year old is not only saving Arsenal 20m but he also takes a 70% pay cut to go back to his former club.

Arsenal directors were said to be stunned by Willian’s gesture.

Willian is an outstanding professional since his move to the Premier League eight year ago. He wants to be a great ambassador for English football.

The Brazilian admits that his move from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer was not a success and wishes all at Arsenal the best in the future.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal boss, confirmed that Willian had held talks about a move to Corinthians earlier in the week.

Arteta stated that he and the agent are currently in discussions and are reviewing the situation. This was before Saturday's defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City by 5-0.

"I don’t know why it hasn’t worked out for him there."

He is currently an Arsenal player and we want to get the most out of him while they are here. Anything else is possible.
