Bruce Anderson, a Livingston striker, suffered a diabetic fit. Two other players vomited in their dressing room during the 2-0 loss against Hibernian.

Rangers parent club withdrew Ben Williamson, an on-loan midfielder, shortly before kick-off due to a post-Covid blood testing.

David Martindale, then the manager, had to quickly replace Anderson and Craig Sibbald. Jack Fitzwater was also replaced within one hour.

Martindale announced that "Wee Brucie was taken to hospital."

He had a brief diabetic fit and was briefly unconscious during the pitch. He will probably be back in the next day.

Livingston is now bottom of the Scottish Premiership with no points after four games. Martindale, however, was more concerned about Martindale's health.

He said that Rangers had told Livingston not play Williamson because they wanted to see his blood results after 24 hours of rest.

Anderson had a fit just before half-time. Goalkeeper Max Stryjek was taken ill and centre-half Fitzwater was also taken ill. Craig Sibbald, who was a fitness doubt, but had replaced Williamson in the starting lineup, was then forced to leave with an injury.

Martindale stated, "I feel sorry about the boys." "Max and Fitzy were urinating in the toilets during half-time.

"Fitzy tried playing on, but we had no choice but to take him off in the second period."

Six minutes into the second half, Hibs scored through Kevin Nisbet. Martin Boyle secured the victory for the Premiership leaders with one minute remaining.

Martindale stated, "I'm not trying make excuses. But we had 11 players absent today and I had four of them put on the bench that shouldn’t have been there."

"Sean Kelly suffered rib damage but had to continue for Fitzy. Nisbet's turn Sean, at a time when Sean wasn't fully up to speed, caused us to lose the first goal.

"The seven to eight fully fit players in my team gave everything but the rest of the boys were struggling."

Martindale said that he was thankful for the international break that means that his side will not play again until Dundee on September 11.
