Netflix is giving the crew and passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 the ending they deserve.
The streaming service has picked up two seasons of three canceled NBC series Manifest, which was cancelled in June. It's been wildly popular there. The third season has been added. Now, on the symbolic day of August 28 (aka Montego Air Flight 808), Netflix has announced its plans to give the series a fourth and final season.
"What began years ago as a flight in my imagination has turned into the jet engine journey that will last a lifetime. In my wildest dreams, I could not have imagined the outpouring of support and love for this story, its characters and the team that work so hard to bring them all to life." Jeff Rake, series creator, said in a statement to accompany Netflix's announcement.
He said, "We will be able reward the fans with an ending they deserve. The cast, crew, writers, directors, producers and crew would like to thank Netflix and Warner Bros. for their support. This was possible because of you.
Netflix refers to the fourth season of Manifest as the "final" season. It will have 20 episodes. This is a huge amount for an hour-long show. According to reports, the 20 episodes will be split into multiple releases. This is similar to what Netflix did with shows like Masters of the Universe and The Get Down.
Manifest, a supernatural drama series that tells the story of the flight 828, takes off from Jamaica and lands in New York five years later. The mystery surrounding what happened to the missing-thenfound flight only gets more complicated as the passengers return to society.
When the first two seasons of Manifest were made available for streaming, Netflix subscribers rushed to catch it. It started at #2 in the daily "Top 10", and quickly rose to #1. Then it held that spot for 27 consecutive days. According to TV Line, that run made Manifest the second-most enduring Top 10 view at #1. It tied Tiger King for first place. At 29 days, only Ginny & Georgia on Netflix lasted longer.
