California Marine Hunter Lopez, 22, son of sheriff's department parents, killed in Kabul airport attack

According to the Riverside Sheriff's Association, a Marine from California was killed in a bomb attack on the Kabul international airport.
Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, is from a Coachella Valley family. He is the son two Riverside County Sheriff's Department workers.

The news release said that Hunter's death was a sad loss. He chose to live a life of selflessness, sacrifice, service and compassion, just like his parents.

According to the sheriff's association, Lopez was a Riverside Sheriff's Scout Scout who served with the Palm Desert Station between Sept. 2014 and Aug. 2017. According to the release, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, and planned to join the sheriff's office upon his return from deployment.

We are all humbled by Hunter's service and ultimate sacrifice to defend our country. Evans said that Hunter was a selfless and brave soldier who answered the call of being a United States Marine.
