Manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo told Juventus that he no longer intends to play for the club.

Ronaldo, 36-year-old, was linked to a move to Manchester City but has been left out the squad to face Empoli.

Juventus has yet to be offered a bid by Portugal for the forward.

Allegri stated, "Ronaldo] made his contribution, he made himself available. Now he leaves and the world goes on."

Juventus informed Ronaldo on Wednesday that they would be willing to sell Ronaldo during the transfer window, but only if interested clubs agree.

Manchester City is one of the teams that have reached out to Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes. Some reports suggest that personal terms for external-link relationships have been already agreed.

Allegri said: "Yesterday Cristiano told me he no longer wants to play for Juventus. He will therefore not be called up to tomorrow's match.

"Things can change. It's a law in life. Juventus is still the most important thing.

"He deserves to be thanked and used as an example for the young people." We must keep going, as I said.

According to reports, Ronaldo told his Juventus colleagues that he would be leaving this month after two seasons as 36-time Serie A champions.

Then he drove to the training grounds on Friday morning, but he left before completing the session.

Allegri stated that Ronaldo "never expressed a desire" to leave Juventus a week ago and that the player had informed him that he would be staying at the Allianz Stadium.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Ronaldo called media speculation about the future of his career "a disrespect for myself as a man" and "a disrespect for my position as a player" a few days before.

Five-time Ballon d'or Winner, he started on Sunday's bench as Juventus drew against Udinese in their league opener.

Ronaldo signed for Juve in 2018 from Spanish giants Real Madrid. The deal was worth 112m Euros (99.2m).

He became the fastest player to score 100 goals in May - a feat that he accomplished in just 131 games.
