Kadeena cox, British, retained her 500m time trial Paralympic title C4-5 with a spectacular world-record ride to Tokyo.
For Britain's seventh gold medal, the 30-year-old was aware that she had to beat Kate O'Brien's time of 35.830 seconds, the Canadian world champion in cycling and athletics.
She smashed it with a stunning 34.812secs, beating the old record by 0.41secs.
She said that she tried not to cry at the podium and tried to enjoy the moment.
"I didn't realize it hit me until I was on the podium. It's quite overwhelming."
Jaco van Gass, from Britain, won his second medal at the Games by winning bronze in the C1-3 1000m race trial.
Although the pursuit gold medallist set an all-time world record in his C3 class, it was not enough to win.
On day three, bronzes were also awarded to Maria Lyle, a sprinter in the first session of the athletics competition, and Olivia Broome who was a powerlifting debutant.
Lyle was third in the T35 100m, China's Xiazhou set a new record. Broome lifted 107kg in the -50kg event.
Broome's teammate Ali Jawad placed sixth in the men’s -59kg race after a difficult build-up that saw his training be affected not only by Covid, but also by Crohn's disease.
Another British citizen in action
Reece Dunn and Jordan Catchpole were the fastest swimmers in the pool heats (09:28 BST), while Bethany Firth (defending champion), Jessica-Jane Applegate (London 2012 winner) and Louise Fiddes will be competing in the women's final (9:36).
Hannah Russell defends her S12 100m Backstroke title (09.06), after having to overcome mental health issues since Rio.
Lauren Rowles and Laurence Whiteley, both from Britain, set a Paralympic record on the first day of rowing action. They reached Sunday's finals of the PR2 mixed doublesculls. The PR3 mixed coxed quartet also achieved the same.
