Demi, who was also declared non-binary in May, has been very candid about their near-death experience in 2018 and their recovery process... which includes what has been called "California Sober".
Although there is no precise definition, it generally means that someone uses some marijuana, and may consume moderate amounts.
This is a grey area, especially for addicts. It has been criticized by many people, including Ken Seeley, host of 'Intervention'. Critics say that sober is not a negotiation term. You either are or aren't.
