Although Tesla makes some of the most innovative electric vehicles on the market, its track record in pursuing more ambitious future projects has been less than stellar. Elon Musk's promise to unleash a million autonomous "robotaxis", on America's roads and highways, in 2019, has not been fulfilled. The "full self driving" technology that was promised has failed drivers so often that the NHTSA launched an investigation. We are to believe that Elon Musk, who once built a mini-submarine at a fraction of the cost and tried to sell knock-off ventilators, can build a fully functional robot prototype in a year.
