There was more chaos in Afghanistan. A bomb exploded outside Hamid Karzai International Airport. This appears to have been a suicide attack according to U.S. officials.
According to reports, the blast occurred at Kabul's entry gate. Crowds of Afghans had been trying to enter the airport through this gate.
Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin reports that the attack was a suicide bomber attack "complex SBIED attack" and firefight. There have been casualties in Afghanistan.
A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that the explosion occurred, but did not give any details about the casualties. However, video footage from the scene shows several people with obvious injuries.
This attack follows a U.S. statement that they have deep concerns about security at Kabul's airport due to "a very specific threat stream."
According to reports, President Biden was briefed about the explosion. This comes after his highly-criticized decision to withdraw U.S troops amid the Taliban takeover of the country...which so far has resulted in mayhem and tragedy.
