Two astronomers discovered and classified half a million new asteroids in old data. Understanding the origins of these objects could help us understand the early solar system.
Alexey Sergeyev, Benoit Carry from Cte dAzur University (France) found the objects through sifting through images of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The survey uses images taken by a telescope located at Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico.
