Matt Turner saved two penalties, while Ricardo Pepi scored in the fifth round for the victory of the MLS All-Stars over the Liga MX All-Stars out of Mexico.
After 90 minutes, the match was tied 1-1. The match then went straight to the penalty shootout with five rounds. MLS won 3-2.

Turner, New England Revolution's keeper, stopped Salvador Reyes and Monterrey’s Rogelio Funes Moi from trying to stop them in the second round. In the third round Erik Lira missed his target.
Pepi, an 18 year old for FC Dallas, saw his shot hit under the crossbar and cross the line.
Jesus Murillo of Los Angeles FC scored in the 53rd minutes in front of his home fans, Banc of California Stadium. This was to counter the 20th minute goal by Cruz Azul's Jonathan Rodriguez which put Liga MX ahead.
The MLS All-Stars had lost three previous shootouts to Spain's Real Madrid, England's Everton, and Italy's Juventus. Since beating England's Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, 2015, MLS had not won an All-Star Game.
Jorge Sanchez, Liga MX's defender, was the star of the opening half. He made a side-volley clearance from the goal line of Diego Rossi's LAFC shot in the eighth minute.

Rodriguez was then crossed by Sanchez for the first goal.
Liga MX had the chance to extend their lead before halftime but Andre Blake, Philadelphia Union's goalkeeper, charged out to take the ball from Santiago Gimenez.
There was no surprise that there was intense competition for the exhibition match, given the long-standing rivalry between the two countries. This was especially evident when the U.S. team defeated the Mexican national team in the finals CONCACAF's Nations League or Gold Cup.
On Nov. 12, in Cincinnati, the next matchup between national teams will be a World Cup qualifier.
A goalkeeper chant using an anti-gay slur caused the match to be stopped briefly in the 11th minutes. Similar stoppages occurred in several matches that involved Mexico in the Nations League or Gold Cup.
