After recovering from coronavirus, Aubameyang started his first season-ending game

Arsenal's first win of the season was thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a hat-trick. They beat West Bromwich Albion's young side to reach round three in the Carabao Cup.

Aubameyang's first season began with two tap-ins in the first half and a finish to curling after the break.

He also acrobatically set Nicolas Pepe up for the third, with Bukayo Saka slotting in for the Gunners’ fourth.

Alexandre Lacazette stepped up to the plate to fire in his side’s sixth.

Martin Odegaard hit the post at an angle that was too tight for him and Pepe struck the bar with a chip.

West Brom had six debutants, five of which were teenagers. However, they showed spirit throughout a difficult night.

The Baggies have had a fantastic start to the season under Valerian Ismael. They pressed hard, moved quickly, and would have taken a lead if Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal's debut goalkeeper, hadn't pushed Tom Fellows’ whipped shot aside.

They continued to make chances even though the tie was decided. Taylor Gardner-Hickman was twice denied by Ramsdale during the second half.

However, Arsenal, who now face AFC Wimbledon, were a class above. The ruthless Aubameyang looked sharp after he had recovered from coronavirus.

He couldn't miss scoring his first two goals. Saka's save shot was followed up by a slot to insert the ball before he turned the ball in after Pepe hit the post.

Although his third attempt was more difficult, he managed it with ease, curling in at 18 yards after cutting into a box.

Gunners boss MikelArteta is optimistic about Manchester City's Premier League match this weekend, with the Gabon striker among them, Saka and Pepe opening their accounts for the season, and Lacazette adding to it up front.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is an Arsenal striker. He spoke to Sky Sports about his feelings. We won this game. It is good to boost the confidence of the team.

"Every player has a 100% commitment. We do our best to provide the fans with what they need.

"Hopefully, this can help us build our confidence for next games. It was hard work and perseverance that we had to put in the effort.

"Everyone knows that I love the space [in between a defense]." My teammates played well. It was a great game.

"We have 36 games remaining so we will do our best to make this a great season."
