The Champions League is back.

This year's draw will take place in Istanbul at 17:00 BST. Chelsea, the defending champions, is among the teams that are waiting to see who they will face on the group stage.

Manchester City and Liverpool, both Premier League teams, are also in the pot.

This is everything you need about the draw.

Who will win the draw?

26 teams have automatically qualified for the group stage, while six more sides will advance to the play-offs.

Spain has five qualified players, four of them through finishing in La Liga plus Villarreal following their win in the Europa League.

Spain: Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Villarreal

England: Manchester City and Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea

Germany: Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg

Italy: Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atalanta, Juventus

France: Lille, Paris St-Germain

Portugal: Sporting Lisbon, Porto, Benfica

Russia: Zenit St Petersburg

Belgium: Club Brugge

Ukraine: Dynamo Kyiv

Ajax, Netherlands

Turkey: Besiktas

Switzerland: Young Boys

Sweden: Malmo

Plus three qualifiers for Wednesday night's final playoff matches.

What are seeding pots?

PSG has signed Lionel Messi. Can they crack the Champions League?

The four seeding pots will contain the Europa League winners Villarreal and Chelsea, while pot one will hold the holders Chelsea.

The six top-ranked countries are represented in the remaining pot one teams. They include: Atletico Madrid (Spain), Inter Milan, Inter Milan (Italy), Bayern Munich and Lille (France), Sporting Lisbon(Portugal).

Uefa's club coefficient will determine the pots two, three, and four.

What is the draw?

No side from the association's own can be taken out of line at this stage. Manchester City, for example, will not meet rival Manchester United.

Two representatives from an association, like Lille or PSG from France will be assigned to a team so that they can split their matches between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Two pairings will be made if there are four or more members in an association, as is the case with Spain, England and Germany.

Each of the 32 teams will be divided into four groups.

When will the group matches be held?

Matchday 1: 14/15 September

Matchday 2: 28/29 September

Matchday three: 19/20 Oct

Matchday four: 2/3 Nov

Matchday five: 23/24 November

Matchday six: 7/8/12 December

What is the nature of competition?

The final 16 knockout stages will be decided by the top two teams in each group.

The Europa League last-16 stage will see the teams that finish third in each group face the runners up from the Europa League groups.

The final of the Champions League takes place in St Petersburg, Russia on Saturday 28 May.

What time is the Europa League draw?

The draw for Uefa’s secondary club competition, Europa League, will be held on Friday at 12:00 BST Istanbul.

This year, the competition is now 48 teams instead of 32. Teams will be divided into four different pots based on club coefficient. They will then be drawn into eight groups.

They cannot be drawn against one another because they are not part of the same association.

The final episode of this season will be held in Seville, Spain, on Wednesday 18 May.

What time is the Europa Conference League draw

Uefa introduced the Europa Conference League as a third club competition, which will be drawn on Friday, 12:30 BST in Istanbul.

This competition is similar to the Champions League and the revamped Europa League. It will feature 32 teams. Teams will be split into four pots based on their club coefficient, and then drawn into eight groups.

Again, there are no sidelines to their association that can be drawn against one another.

The Europa League will also be held on Thursday nights.

The first final will be held in Tirana (Albania) on Wednesday 25 May.
