Sarah Storey set a new world record on her way to winning her 15th Paralympic title, Britain's first Tokyo 2020 gold.

Crystal Lane-Wright beat her teammate in the final to keep her C5 3,000m individual pursuit title. She had previously beaten her world record in qualifying.

Storey was determined to win the final and caught her rival after 1,750m.

The 43-year old is only one shy of Mike Kenny's British record 16 golds.

Next Tuesday she will be competing in the C5 road trial, where she is also the defending champion.

Storey was born with a severely disabled left hand. She started her career in swimming at Barcelona in 1992, and won 15 Paralympic medals including five golds. In 2005, she switched to cycling.

She has been unbeatable on both the track and the roads since then. Her qualifying time of 3:27.057 seconds was nearly four seconds faster than her Rio world record.

Lane-Wright's second consecutive silver medal is at the Games.
