It is impossible to keep this information secret from people who will be screening your movie. This is why Warner Bros. announced at CinemaCon 2020 that The Matrix: Resurrections, written and directed Lana Wachowski, was being screened. We saw the first footage.
It starts with a very shiny looking city. Thomas is a patient of a psychiatrist named Neil Patrick Harris. Thomas is Reeves. He's experiencing problems. He claims he has dreams that aren't real. He is seen walking down the street wearing the Matrix code. He asks, "Am I crazy?" The doctor says that we don't say that. Thomas then sits in a bathtub, a rubber duck on top of his head. He enters a coffee shop to greet Trinity. As they shake hands, he asks her if they have met.
We find out that Thomas is taking blue pill at home. He watches several birds fly overhead and looks up at the sky. He is trying to analyse it. He then finds himself in an elevator, along with several others who are on their phones. He looks up at everyone's screens and sees the reflection. The song White Rabbit starts to play around this point.
Yahya AbdulMateen II appears as a character that looks exactly like Morpheus (shaved hair, small sunglasses) and offers Thomas one red pill. He meets a blue-haired person who has a tattoo that looks like a rabbit. All of this feels very familiar to us, as the audience. It's kinda just... Is it the Matrix?
Neo and the blue-haired person walk by a mirror. He is in a cafe. He then goes to a dojo on a lake with Abdul-Mateens. He says that the only thing that matters is being here. You won't give up. They start to practice martial arts. When Thomas hits Abdul-Mateens character in the chest, he flies out.
Thomas and the blue-haired man are riding a train. A bullet fired by a sniper from far away is sent through the train towards Thomas and the blue-haired person. There are tons of fast-paced action scenes. We see the multitude of people who have been plugged into the matrix. Trinity is unplugged from the matrix. The blue-haired man leaping over a car at slow speed. Thomas is holding bullets in the air. Thomas is hit by a helicopter that fires a missile at him and Trinity. Thomas then changes the direction of the missile mid-air to shoot it into another helicopter. Thomas then finds himself in an office with Jonathan Groff, a man dressed in a business suit. He says that you're going back to the beginning. The Matrix. Then comes the title: The Matrix. This fades away and is followed by Resurrections.

It is very easy to feel that all that has happened with Neo, Trinity, or Morpheus before is happening again with minor adjustments. The same story is repeated over and over by the same characters. Or... We don't really know. It doesn't look nearly as action-packed and big as we have come to expect.
The Matrix Resurrections will open December 22.
