Molina said to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "I'm so content, so happy," before Tuesday's match against Detroit.

Molina, who plays this season on a one year, $9 million deal, stated earlier this month that this winter he didn't want to go free agency.

"On behalf the Cardinals, our fans, I am very pleased to announce that Yadier Mlina will continue his franchise legacy in 2022," stated Bill DeWitt Jr., Cardinals chairman. "Yadi continues to play at an All Star level this season and has already established himself as one of the greatest players to ever wear the birds on the bat."
