Cameron Archer was on loan to Solihull Moors, a National League side.
Cameron Archer, a teenager, scored a hat trick as Aston Villa breezed into round three of the Carabao Cup after a convincing win at League Two Barrow.
He scored the first goal, before Anwar El Ghazi added two more. He also chipped in a penalty, and then hit the ball home from close in to make it 3-1 at the break.
Archer finished his second round with a beautiful finish before Frederic Guilbert won a fifth.
The 19-year old completed his hat trick with a great low shot in the final minutes.
Archer spent the last season on loan at Solihull Moors, a National League club. It was his dream start to the club.
Archer was one of the 10 changes Dean Smith made to Saturday's 2-0 win against Newcastle. He will be hoping that his goals have helped him get into the Premier League squad for Brentford.
Barrow played well all the way but they were playing catch up from the 10th minute. El Ghazi came in behind and allowed Archer to score his first goal from six yards.
Jaden Philogene Bidace, a fellow youngster, was also brought down. El Ghazi, who was the only player to show up against the Magpies received a Panenka penalty.
The Bluebirds could have had a spot-kick when the energetic Offrande Zanzala was beaten by Kortney Haus in the area. Villa, however, ended the game as a contest right before the break when El Ghazi scored Guilbert's deep cross.
Archer scored his second goal after El Ghazi's great through ball. Guilbert could have been moved before the transfer deadline. Archer was able to score from Guilbert's excellent through ball. This allowed Guilbert to score before Paul Farman, home keeper, had denied Philogene Bidace.
Archer won the last word, scoring his third goal from a Philogene Bidace pullback.
Mark Cooper, boss of Barrow:
"I am frustrated that the scoreline didn’t do us justice.
"Yes, we are playing against a great team but we have to be better than that.
"I believe we started well, growing into the game and the plan was for half-time.
"The first goal was terrible defending, and then we give away the ball cheaply, 2-0.
"We should have had a penalty right after that to make the score 2-1. Instead, it's 3-0. It's over.
Aston Villa assistant manager Craig Shakespeare:
"You want to make it to the next round, but then there's a young boy who comes in and scores a hat trick. It is always pleasing.
"It was a great experience to watch the youth team last year, and great fun watching some of the youth players train him this season. It was a great feeling to stake a claim.
It wasn't an easy 6-0. We must give Barrow some credit.
"But it was pleasing for Cameron to get his Hat-Trick, and obviously Anwar got some goals, too.
"We have a strong team and everyone knows that our young players are talented. It's crucial that they get opportunities like these to improve their skills."
